Rhythm Jets is a new entity but its members have worked and performed with a plethora of stars including Earl Klugh, Boyz II Men, Bob James, Stewart Copeland, Susan Tedeschi, Jeff Beck, Chuck Mangione plus movie credits in “A Joyful Noise” and "What to Expect When you are Expecting”. Prominent performances also include World Series and headlining in Vegas plus countless recording sessions.The debut album "Sound Barrier" was Released in July of 2014 to rave reviews highlighting excellent musicianship, great production and strong songwriting.

Vance Kelly - Alto and Tenor Sax

Vance found his passion for music, sound and saxophone at a young age in his native Atlanta GA. and never let go of the desire to share his love for music. Having honed his craft through years of live and studio performances, his audiences are the beneficiaries of his constant push to take his skills as a player, engineer and producer to the highest level. He has broad experience in Pop, Rock, Blues, Big Band Jazz, Island and Christian genres that get blended into what you hear from him today.

Along with his study of Music at Kennesaw State University, Vance earned a degree in Electrical Engineering which furthers his capabilities as a musician, engineer and producer. Vance started his music career playing in college bands and sitting in for studio sessions. The first 7 years on the road were spent playing keyboards and sax with the now famous Jesse James Dupree. In the following years, Vance recorded and played with blues bands and a Contemporary Christian band. Vance was also fortunate enough to be a charter member and have a key role in The Christian Music Connection that provided a path for unsigned artists to grow while promoting shows for many named acts. To round out his career in the business, Vance worked as a talent agent for Rising Star Productions, and has spent years as a FOH sound engineer, most recently for North Point Ministries. The vast variety and number of artists and music professionals that Vance has had the pleasure of working with is another amazing influence on his music today. Vance’s performances are also enhanced by the insight he has gained in his role as engineer and producer at Palms Up Studios. He has even produced a track for Capital Records which appeared in the movie “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”. Vance’s proficiency in producing the highest quality sound cultivates amazing live and recorded musical experiences. Vance understands the music, the technology that drives it, and the business that surrounds it. For the past several years he has played in A1A, the official and original Jimmy Buffet tribute show. Vance is now the visionary and the front man for The Rhythm Jets.

 

John Carrozza - Piano, B3 and Acoustic Guitar

John Carrozza - John has played guitar and piano from a very early age. He relocated from Florida to Atlanta in 1992 to work as a musician, producer, writer and arranger for Twelve Oaks Studios, a top choice for many Christian artists. John has worked with many top caliber artists in Atlanta including Sam Skelton, Drummer Scott Meeder and bassist Jackie Street, and Grammy award winner Earl Klugh. He has also collaborated with producers and songwriters such as Cheryl Rogers and Mike Gleason. Mr. Carrozza has produced, performed, or arranged for many gospel artists including Babbie Mason, Todd Fields, Vernessa Mitchell, and was a featured pianist on “Dear God” by Boyz II Men on their platinum album, “Evolution”. He has recorded his own acclaimed instrumental project entitled, “Worship Without Words” and also plays regularly with the North Point Community Church Band in Atlanta, GA as pianist and organist on the Hammond B-3. John Carrozza is a savvy musician with a natural feel, and his latest smooth EP “Defining Moment” demonstrates that gift.

   

Joseph Patrick Moore - Bass Guitar

For more than a decade Joseph Patrick Moore has been touring, recording, and establishing himself as an artist with a unique voice and a diversity of talents. His skills as bassist, composer, arranger, producer, author, educator and founding partner of Blue Canoe Digital illustrate why he is a highly sought after musician. Moore’s music and creative vision echo the spirits of Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis to name a few. A native of Knoxville, TN, Moore moved to his current home base of Atlanta in 1997. His formal training, as well as his extensive production and performance experience brings a wealth of musical acumen to the Rhythm Jets. Joseph has performed locally in Atlanta and on national tours with the likes of Leo Neocentelli (Meters, Neville Bros.) and the eclectic bluegrass fusion “hickhop” band Blueground Undergrass. Through his association with musicdojo.com, he has created several interactive online music classes. Moore has recently played with Stewart Copeland of the Police and is currently slotted as sideman for Earl Klugh and Bob James in their upcoming tour of the western United States. His latest CD release, “To Africa With Love” is steeped in jazz and colored with rhythms from the Land of the Sahara.

 

Wayne Viar - Drums and Percussion

As a drummer and percussionist, Wayne is well versed in a multitude of styles and keeps busy both in Atlanta and on the road performing regularly with national and international acts. He also provides live drums, percussion tracks, and programming for various recording projects. He is the drummer the Rhythm Jets count on to deliver what’s necessary for virtually any stylistic situation. “My goal is to provide the right groove that is supportive, musically appropriate, tasteful and serves the song first and foremost.” These qualities are what make him one of Atlanta’s ‘go to guys’ for a variety of musical situations. In addition to drumming and playing percussion in the “traditional” sense, Wayne is also the co-leader of a percussion troupe called the Wrecking Crew. The Wrecking Crew is a 5 – 8 person cast of percussionists who perform for major corporate events, providing them with a high energy show in a similar vein as STOMP.

   

Steve Cunningham - Lap Steel and Electric Guitars

A Rochester, NY native, Steve began playing guitar at age 14, where he was influenced by such diverse artists as Led Zeppelin, Pat Metheny, Yes, and the Brecker Brothers. In 1995, Steve relocated to Atlanta, where he began playing the lap steel, immersing himself in the styles of David Lindley, western-swing great Tom Morrell, and Sacred Steel player Aubrey Ghent. One of the most in-demand guitarists on the Atlanta scene, Steve performs over 200 dates a year playing jazz, R&B, rock, funk, gospel, country, blues, pop and western-swing among other styles. He has played with Grammy nominated Susan Tedeschi, Jeff Beck, The Barenaked Ladies, Kool and the Gang, Dream Theatre, The Four Tops, Chuck Mangione, Eddie Money, and Blondie. In addition, he has performed at the Southeast Emmy Awards, The World Series, and headlined at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and recently performed in the upcoming movie, “A Joyful Noise”, with Kirk Franklin. Steve is a first-call session player, playing on hundreds of local and national CD releases, TV and radio commercials, and movie soundtracks.

 

Nico Gutierrez - Steel Drums and Percussion

Nico G. was born in N.Y.C. and has been playing some kind of drum set since he was 9 yrs old. His passion for world music has led him to study world music including: Afro-Cuban percussion, folkloric and popular rhythms as well as Brazilian and West African styles of drumming. Nico G. has studied percussion with Regino Jimenez, Michael Spiro, Mark Lamson, Poncho Sanchez, and Francisco Aguabella. Nico currently performs all over Atlanta, GA in his all steel drum band “Caribbean Steel” and has performed in Las Vegas, NV and San Diego, CA at such notable venues such as: Trader Vics, Planet Hollywood, The Flamingo, Tropicana Hotel/Casino, The Golden Nugget, The Mirage, Tommy Bahamas Tropical Cafe, Mandalay Bay, La Costa Resort & Spa and many more. Nico brings to the Rhythm Jets the sweet sounds of the Steel Drum, performing traditional and popular songs done in an island style. From Reggae to Soca, Calypso and Pop, Nico’s rhythms set the perfect tone for any occasion.
